NYC: Day 9

Today, I am so grateful that it didn't rain! What a blessing! It was cloudy, but it was the perfect temperature.

We can't seem to get out of the hotel until noon everyday. I'm still not sure why.

We ate lunch in front of 30 Rock with Steve. Our kids chased birds and squealed. Some onlookers were delighted with them, but others were clearly annoyed.

Steve went back to work and I spent exactly five minutes in Anthropologie, just long enough to determine that I would love to own this cardigan in gold. Each season, I pick out a cardigan from Anthropologie that I would love to own, but I never buy them. I eventually forget about them, although I haven't forgotten about the green one with yellow flowers. I wonder if my obsession with yellow will ever end. We're going on ten+ years now.

We headed to the New World Stage for the puppet show, "ImaginOcean." My children loved it and I loved watching them most of all. Stephen was hilarious! He said "hi" to all the puppets and one time he started to ask the "octopose" a question. I shushed him because he was kind of loud, but I wish now that I hadn't. He was awfully cute.

Black lights were on during the entire show. Tonight, Mei Li told Steve that her socks were "gleaming." Mei Li was a little more mellow during the show. She seemed to be worried by every speck that was "gleaming" under the black light.

After the show, I headed to Gap/GapKids to fill the rest of our time before Steve was done with work. I had several coupons to Gap from the last time I visited. I left the store with three carefully selected items that I can now check off of my "to buy" list. I was tempted by some "2 for" deals that I didn't need, but I stayed strong and left them to tempt someone else.

Back at the hotel, Mei Li and Stephen played make believe with lots of squealing and tackling.

Steve came home, we all walked over to a laundromat to wash our clothes, we picked up takeout from Tai and Thai, which I do not recommend, and we picked up McDonald's for the kids.

Our kids were pretty wild and crazy up until bed time. They really like to tackle each other. Tonight they called it the "ouchie" game. After many pretend ouchies and one real ouchie, Mei Li said, "let's take a rest and play a more gentle game. Let's play the walking game." Then they walked quietly in a circle on our bed. Children are so funny.

Tonight Mei Li told me,
while she was on the potty, "I don't like New York City." She has expressed her dislike of our hotel room before and in her prayer tonight, she said she was grateful that we get to go back to our new house. I'm not a huge fan of our hotel room either, but it has worked out much better than I thought it would. We're all sleeping well and I am very aware of just how big a blessing that is.

Tomorrow will be sunny and warm. I have big plans.
