NYC: Day 8

Today, we did

absolutely

nothing.

It was a cold and rainy day. I don't have a storm cover for my stroller. Mei Li only has a cotton cardigan for warmth. Stephen only has a hoodie. We are not prepared for the cold. We stayed in our warm hotel room all day long until Steve came home.

We watched movies and ate snacks. Stephen took a nap in the afternoon, which I thought would be impossible with us in the same room. It turns out that he's a very versatile sleeper. He can fall asleep in a car, stroller, on a shoulder, and in a room with awake people! Mei Li and I stayed quiet and colored in her Curious George coloring book.

Mei Li came up with more exotic names for the baby. I can't remember all of the ones she's told me, but here are some: "Berga," "A-ya," and "Naya." We have no clue what to name this baby girl, but I'm pretty sure we won't be using any of Mei Li's suggestions.

The kids spent a lot of time jumping on the bed and squealing loudly for the whole floor to hear. They played a lot of make believe and Stephen often played the bad guy who's going to "trap you forever!"

When Steve came home, we walked to Goodburger for some very average food. The kids ate well, though! The kids got pretty wet in the rain. I felt bad for them. Mei Li, especially, was very cold.

I kind of feel like a failure for not making the day more fun for the kids. Tomorrow is another (rainy) day. Oh goody.

What, you don't like Berga?

Your NYC adventure sounds SO fun. Despite the rainy day, which doesn't sound as fun but still could be worse. :) Actually I bet it was pretty fun for the kids to hang out and jump on the bed all day!

I'd love to come visit you when you get back to VA...see your new place, catch up, help if I can.

It is OK - you don't have to make everything fun; I think that you are an awesome mom, and you need to rest before "Berga" makes an appearance! Relax and don't sweat it.

Yeah, Berga is not my favorite, but we don't have any favorites right now so I suppose it's still a possibility! :)

Madame, it is wonderful hearing from you this way. Isn't the internet wonderful? We ate lunch by 30 Rock today. I wondered if I would see your daughter, but I didn't.
