Stephen attends a Methodist preschool in our area. Yesterday, we attended "Praise and Celebration," which I would equate to a singing and sharing time during primary at our church. At the end of the presentation, a children's choir from Africa performed for us. The first song they sang went like this:
I love you, Jesus, deep down in my heart (sung four times)
Talk about deep deep, down down, deep down in my heart (sung four times)
Anyway, it was very catchy and beautiful and we all loved it. When I picked Stephen up from preschool later in the day, I started singing the song. But Stephen corrected me and told me that the song said, "I love your genius" instead of "I love you, Jesus." It made me laugh, and made me love his genius all the more.
On Monday, we were at Target going down the aisle between maternity and intimate apparel. Mei Li said, pointing to the bras and panties on display and the woman pictured above, getting gradually louder with each syllable, "Oh no, oh no, oh no! Mom, you are NOT going to buy that. That lady is not being modest."
Then Stephen got out of the cart and walked over to the display, pointed at some lace panties and said, "Yeah, see Mom, she is wearing this without any clothes on!"
I was trying hard not to laugh out loud and so was the woman nearby. I said, "That is so silly. Why isn't she wearing any clothes?" And then I just walked away, wondering how I could teach my children to declare their standards more lovingly. :)
Little Mi Na is talking and singing all the time, just not in English. But I love her perfect intonation and gestures when she talks. She loves walking up to me and giving me hugs around my legs, like every ten seconds when I'm making dinner. I think she's pretty darn special. And smart. And sweet. And charming. Just like my other two. :)

Oh, yes- we love the Christian pre-schools & their songs! I like Stephen's interpretation:)
Nice job teaching your little ones about modesty!
