Our first full day in North Carolina was pleasant and lazy. It was warm, but rained on and off for most of the day. During Mi Na's nap, Annee watched the kids play outside while I backed into Annee's car and went to JoAnn's to buy Simplicity Pattern 2825 and some ribbon (and a Milky Way).
When I returned, I took my little ones to the park up the street. We had a great time in the sprinkling rain.
Mi Na loved the swing, and Mei Li loved pushing her.

Stephen played on this funny merry-go-round type thing for most of our time there. I had never seen one of these before. I took a turn and tried walking on it, which was fun and slightly scary.
The real fun started when the cousins got home from school. George is Mi Na's best friend.
We were all supposed to go to a soda shop in the evening for dinner to see George's artwork displayed, but Stephen, Mi Na, and I did not make it there. Stephen was having a meltdown. While everyone was away, we played basketball together, ate dinner, and then I put him to bed. It was nice to have Mi Na and Stephen in bed by 7.
Mei Li had a swell time with her cousins at the soda shop, where she shared a cookies and cream shake with Jane and Ruby.
I cut out my pattern and Annee sewed a skirt in her sewing garage. She told me about the time long ago when they all went to see a movie about wolves. Little Johnny (Zack) and little Stevie then pretended to be a wolf pack and marked their territory all over the house. How funny that these kind, gentle, patient husbands and fathers were once rascally little boys!
I went to bed around midnight, the same time that Steve was just leaving the office. Poor guy.
