Monday was good.

We started out the morning with a nice family breakfast. Steve read from the Book of Mormon and played with the kids for a few minutes. Mi Na babbled "dadadadada," and Steve responded, "yes, Mi Na?" He gave me a little smirk, obviously proud that "dada" is coming out of her mouth before "mama." Then he was off to work.

I readied the kids for swimming lessons and off we went. I love watching the kids swim. Mr. Gabe is a good teacher. He is challenging my kids and they are making great progress. Stephen waved and smiled at me in the middle of each swim pass and my heart melted. Stephen is quite the talker and interrupts class to tell stories. Stephen also likes to splash around when he's suppose to be sitting on the steps.

Mei Li can swim by herself for short distances and it makes me so proud. I hope both of them will be good swimmers by Memorial day when the pools open.

We went home and ate an early lunch. I tried something new today and put Stephen down for a nap at 11:45. I woke him up at 12:30 so we could take Mei Li to preschool. He still needs a nap, but if it's too late or long, he won't go to sleep at night. I think it worked. He's usually asleep while Mei is at preschool, but I like having him awake during that time so we can have some more one on one time.

We dropped Mei off at preschool. Because of all the snow, there aren't many places to park. There was a sign where I parked and Stephen asked what it said. It said: "Authorized for plant manager only." Then Stephen said, "I think it says we need to go get donuts."

We went to Wegman's for a small grocery shopping trip and donuts for my boy.
We got one for Mei Li too. Stephen could say "donut" when he was 12 months old. He always said it in this low, raspy, hungry voice. It was so cute. Stephen and Mi Na were so well behaved at the store. What a blessing.

Whenever we pick Mei Li up from preschool, she and Stephen have a moment where they stop to hug each other or have a conversation. Like today, they hugged each other and then Stephen asked,

"Did you get any skittles?"

Mei Li replied, "no, but I got a new library book!"

"Cool! Let's race!" And then they ran down the hall of the high school laughing, with Mei Li slightly ahead and Stephen saying, "don't win!" (He's not good at losing yet.)

They are good friends and it makes me so happy. Mei Li was so grateful to us for getting her a donut. I thought that was sweet.

Once at home, Mei Li and Stephen immediately jumped into their make believe world. This world was apparently a singing one because they sang every line of their make-it-up-as-you-go script. They loaded up Stephen's dump truck with a bunch of toys and kept singing, "to the dump! To the dump!"

I made dinner and Mi Na watched me while she sat in her Bumbo on the floor.

She is no longer content to just sit around. This girl can move and she's trying desperately to crawl. My baby is growing up. It's sad but so great too.

Steve was home for dinner. I made BC's herb-marinated pork tenderloins. It was good. Not my absolute favorite or anything like that, but it was easy to make and Steve enjoyed it. Both kids tried a bite. When cooking with the Barefoot Contessa, I always always use half the amount of salt she calls for.

We had Family Home Evening. The opening song was Noah's verse in "Follow the Prophet," and then we read a story from The Friend magazine. It taught us about serving our fellow men. We discussed ways that we could serve each other and those outside our family. Then we ate BC's brownie pudding
. That was good.

We got ready for bed, read books, prayed, and sang songs. Mei Li asks me to sing "Golden Slumbers" every night now. Stephen can't make up his mind about which song he wants me to sing to him. It's exasperating, really. He will choose one and then he'll stop me in the middle of that song and choose another. That crazy, wonderful, adorable little boy.

Steve and I did our workout tonight, even though I felt like crashing in my bed and sleeping for three days. I'm glad we did it. Now it is time for bed. Too bad I'll be up in just six hours or less.
