Steve's birthday week

We celebrated Steve's birthday a while ago. We still lived in our old house then.

Rachel surprised Steve at work with this funny thing:
He brought it home to show the kids. It was a big hit.
That night, we cashed in on Rachel's Christmas present to us. She came over to watch the kids while we saw "Fiddler on the Roof" in DC. We'd never seen it on stage before and we loved it. It was good, clean entertainment with a good message.

We've been in the habit of waiting until the Saturday or Sunday after the actual birthday to celebrate.

I made biscuits and gravy for breakfast, his favorite, on Sunday morning after his birthday. We had strawberry cheesecake for dessert that night. It was a low-key celebration mixed in with the stress of moving. I felt bad about that. Steve, however, enjoys this low-key kind of birthday. He doesn't need or want anyone else to know it's his birthday or any added attention.

I think that one of the reasons Steve needed to marry me is so I could tell the world just how wonderful he is. He won't say a thing on the subject. I, however, have tons to say on the subject, but will share just a few things.

I love how Steve doesn't need anyone to know of his good deeds. His motives for service are pure and come from a sincere love and compassion for others. One time, a recipient of his service, told me of his good deed, and I had no idea that he did anything.

Steve always does his duty, no matter how tired he is or busy he is with other things.

Every once in a while, Steve asks me if there is a dream of mine he can help me fulfill. There is nothing, Steve. I'm living all of my dreams everyday because of you. Thank you.

Mei Li, Stephen, and I are so grateful to have Steve in our lives. Thanks to his parents and siblings for helping him become the wonderful man that he is.
