10 favorite ethnic dishes (in no particular order)

1. Sushi! My favorites are eel and yellow tail. Steve's favorite is the shrimp tempura roll.

2. Thai massaman curry-also a favorite of Steve's.

3. My mother's beef and broccoli.

4. Chicken coconut korma. When in Provo's Bombay House, we order it every single time.

5. Bulgogi. Annee, I wish I could have been there to taste the best bulgogi you've ever had.

6. Kalbi (Korean short ribs).

7. Dol sot bi bim bop (Korean stone bowl fried rice)-first experienced on my third date with Steve, fourth if you count my senior prom.

8. My mother's Indonesian chicken satay.

9. Cha siu bau (Chinese BBQ pork buns) The best ones I've had are the baked ones from LA's Chinatown. I have yet to find a truly exceptional bun out here.

10. Peking duck. It's a special experience every time.

Wow! I love reading your list and it's fun to see the special memories attached to some of the dishes.

Whoa. Other than the beef and broccoli, this is all new to me. You have had some adventurous culinary experiences. I'm so glad you personalized it with your explanations. Senior Prom should definitely qualify as a date.

You are so adventurous! Wow!

Have you been to the Chinese (I think) bakery across from the Shopper's on Jermantown/Blake/Pickett? They might have a Pork Bun thing that you'd like!

I promise you that all of these are actually very tame and not weird at all.

Shanae, I haven't been to that bakery, but I must go and see if they have it.

Senior Prom was our first real date, but at the time the admiration was mostly one-sided (my side). And it happened about 2 and a half years before our other dates.

You make me want to explore some new foods I haven't had/heard of before. I have tried & love the first 3 you have listed. You should share your Mom's beef broccoli recipe on In Our Mix. It would be fun to try.

I tried Bulgogi for the first time on my mission and fell in love! Do you have a good recipe for it?

Funny, I don't have good recipes for most of these because I think everything tastes better when I didn't make it myself.

Steve made bulgogi for me once and it was pretty good. I'll have to ask him which recipe he used.
