More about animals

After last Friday's adventure with animals, I was happy to take my kids to the "safer" National Zoo, where we can't get too close to the animals. I do enjoy taking my kids to the National Zoo, and on Wednesday, I felt much support from the six other moms that went.

We had yet another animal encounter yesterday, when Jenny and I took our kids to a friend's house for pony rides. I have to admit that my fear of animals does not include horses for some reason. I didn't get scared being so close to them as I put my kids on their backs. Isn't that weird? Horses are massive animals and they don't scare me. Of course, it definitely helps that these were trained horses.

Stephen, however, is terrified of them.

Mei Li is a natural.

Mei Li's Aunt Christine rides horses, and I think Mei Li would have made her proud. Mei Li didn't hesitate at all when I put her up on Georgie, and then Georgie started off at almost a trot! Mei Li loved it. She looked at home on that pony, and after a while wanted to hold onto just the reins.

Baby guy felt at home in the dirt. "See look! Dirt! More dirt!"

After the riding ended, Lilly and Mei Li fed the horses hay.

Baby guy felt better about the horses with a fence between him and them.

Mei Li did not want to leave.

I can't fault her for it. We all had a great time. Thanks to all who made it possible.
