24 hour LA trip 10/8-10/9

Before Michi came to visit, I called to ask her a favor.  I caught her at sort of a stressful moment, so I said I'd call back, but she urged me to ask anyway.  I asked her to watch our kids for a day while she was in Virginia so Steve and I could go to LA for Will K's wedding.  "I'd love to!" was her response.

So that's what we did.  We hopped on a plane Saturday morning and flew to LA.  On the flight, Steve and I just read and slept and tried watching some conference on his computer.  The connection wasn't fast enough for that though.

My dad was right on time picking us up.  From the airport, he drove us to the temple to meet my mom.  We spent a couple of hours doing temple work with them.  It was really lovely.  We even got to meet Mitt Romney's cousin, one of hundreds I'm sure.

Thank you Mom and Dad for dropping everything to come meet us!  We love you!

We changed our clothes and went straight to the country club for the wedding.  Will aka "Billy" is Steve's good friend from high school.  He was at our wedding reception and has visited us in DC a couple of times.  I'm so happy we were able to witness Billy and Joanna's marriage. It was outdoors and there was not a cloud in the sky. The reception followed, and it was beautifully decorated.

Did I mention that Steve and I were two of eight guests who were not full Asian?

We saw a few familiar faces from high school, and we enjoyed catching up with them.  We had a really great time, and I even convinced my reserved husband to get up and dance with me for a few songs.  It was like my senior prom all over again.

We drove to my parents' home and got to talk to them for a little while before going to bed.   I really love my parents.  I love how welcomed and comfortable I feel in their home.

We went to bed and woke up at 4:30 so we could catch our 6:50 flight to Dulles.  I finished The Good Earth on the flight.  I loved it.  Pearl Buck's writing is really beautiful.  I need to read the whole trilogy.

When we got home, Michi had used some of the apples from the orchard to make an apple pie, hand apple pies, and applesauce.  She even got the kids involved in the process!  She's amazing!  Thank you, Michi!

It was my pleasure! Have you used/eaten up all the apples yet?
