Just a couple of pictures from today with lengthy captions

Here are my three little ones gathered in the kitchen for an after-school snack.  I'm adding pink to my kitchen color palette for the summer.  Our rosebushes are blooming beautifully!  How nice it is to be able bring in fresh flowers from our yard.  And thankfully, just like Sarah said, the kids have learned to stay away from the rosebushes after receiving a couple of cuts from the thorns.

This kitchen is missing a huge black framed mirror and a chandelier that is already painted black but is waiting to be installed.  But tell me, do you think we'll survive a Virginia summer in that south-facing space without a ceiling fan overhead?

Here are my little bakers helping me make baked chocolate pudding for the Family Home Evening treat.  I altered it to be a little healthier (substituted half of the butter with olive oil, used maple syrup instead of sugar, and made it with whole wheat pastry flour instead of all-purpose flour) and it was still so delicious.  I already used less than the full amount of sweetener and might even use less next time I make it.  Maybe I'll also use all olive oil instead of half?

As I look at this picture, it is very clear to me that the next sewing project I tackle will be aprons for the children.  Annee, my sewing guru, will you guide me to a wonderful kids' apron pattern, preferably a free one?

P.S. The Z sisters are on Rachel's blog.

Sometimes I substitute some grated apple for some of the butter. It also takes the place of some of the sweetener in one fell swoop :)

Love the cabinets!

I have not checked your blog in a while and apparently missed a lot!

Just wanted to say randomly that I loved the in-flight trivia comment. Matt and I play that too whenever we fly JetBlue. At least I think it's JetBlue.

Anyway, now I'm all caught up on your life. :) It all looks lovely.

Your taste is just immpecable. I love how your kitchen looks. And, so great of you to make that pudding healthier. I'm always looking for ways to just make things taste better and if that means adding more butter and sugur so be it. I may need to change my tune.
