An eye exam and bunk beds

Oh man. How am I going to do this?

Steve had an eye exam today. Neither of us thought it would take 4 hours! At least the doctor was thorough. In the meantime, I was at home with the three kids.

The older ones spent a lot of time in front of the computer. I decided that they'd watched enough Nick Jr. so the kids snacked on yogurt and cereal while I fed Mi Na upstairs.

I started to worry at some of the sounds I was hearing. Sure enough, there was yogurt everywhere and Stephen was running around with yogurt hands and getting dangerously close to our newly-delivered mattresses.

I spent the next half hour speaking to my children with my teeth clenched. I wiped Stephen's hands, cleaned up his mess, and scolded Mei Li for pushing Stephen, all while nursing Mi Na.

Down to the basement they went to watch some more TV. I mean, isn't letting them watch more TV better than speaking to them with my teeth clenched?

I was so relieved when Steve came home. He told me all about his exam, and how this doctor was so much more thorough than our old optometrist, who was connected to the LensCrafters. My eye exam is on Monday. We're all going together because Steve needs my help in picking out new frames.

Steve got started on the bunk beds. The kids jumped on the mattress while he worked. I fed Mi Na, who by the way, is the sleepiest baby ever. I have had to wake her up for every single feeding. Here's hoping that by tomorrow she's gained some weight.

I fed her and then we both took a nap on my bed. Napping with a newborn baby is my favorite. I don't ever want her to grow up.

Steve woke me up so I could feed the kids dinner while he continued to work. We didn't get the beds up until 8 PM tonight. They were excited and unable to fall asleep. They got out of their beds many times and I clenched my teeth once again.

Tomorrow, I must apologize to them. I've already apologized to Mi Na for speaking in harsh tones today. Tomorrow, I want to speak like an angel.

You are a great mom; take a deep breath and let it all go. The kids won't become juvenile delinquents from too much tv, and you will be fine tomorrow.
Keep it all in perspective.

Ie Li- I have been out of the blogging world all week. You had your baby!!! Congratulations!! Mi Na is beautiful and I love the name. What a story. You did it!! What a beautiful little family you have made.
And by the way, we all have our teeth clenching moments or days. Your good days far outweigh any teeth clenching days. Best of luck adjusting to three little ones. It gets better with each baby!

Ie Li, what bunk bed are you getting, we are thinking of doing the same thing. Also, do you have a nursing sling? That was a life saver for me with Molly. I was able to nurse her whereever we were, whatever we were doing. Don't worry, a little extra TV won't hurt the kids :) it's worth it for your sanity!

Kelly, we found a great deal on bunk beds at walmart.com and it ships for 97 cents.

My friend, Eliza, actually just came by today to loan me one of her slings. Hopefully I'll get the hang of nursing with it on. It will definitely help free up my hands.
