Stephen, Mei, and I are safe and sound in small town, Indiana.
Our flights here were interesting. I've never tried to fly with two kids on a small airplane, the kind that have two seats on one side of the aisle and two seats on the other. It posed some problems for us.
DC to Detroit
Stephen sat by the window in his car seat and Mei sat next to him. I was across the aisle next to a stranger, which turned out to be a mistake because I could not reach Stephen to stop his mischief. He likes mischief these days.
Eventually, I had to bribe Mei Li with a lollipop and a movie to sit next to a stranger so I could sit next to Stephen.
Detroit to Indiana
This time, Stephen didn't want to sit in his car seat.
Mei ended up sitting by the window, and I sat next to her. Stephen sat across the aisle next to Grandma Emily, mother of 10 and grandma of 22.
He talked her ear off, and she listened to and answered him most patiently. They talked, looked at the airplane magazine together, colored, and ate snacks. Meanwhile, Mei Li colored in her coloring book and I suffered from nausea.
After a half hour, I gave Grandma Emily a break. Stephen and Mei sat next to each other and watched "Bob the Builder," while I got to know Emily a little better.
Everything about this flight was better, except for the part where I vomited.
It's nice to be in my sister's home. It actually feels like home to me with so many loved ones around and comfortable accommodations. It will be hard to be away from Steve for 3+ weeks, but I can be strong. We will have a good time.

You know what I found out is very useful in flying with little kids, when we flew last October, is playdough. It's not even that messy because it sticks to its self. It actually entertained the girls for quite a while.
Have fun in Indiana, the 3 weeks will go by fast, and I'm sure it will be nice to have the extra help!
Glad you made it! It makes such a difference to have a nice seatmate when flying with kids. I'm glad you had one when you needed it! We'll miss you. Have fun.
