A trip to the Christmas tree lot was the perfect activity for Monday's family home evening. We weren't the only ones who thought so. Taunya and Jonathan and their family showed up at the lot in search of their perfect tree as well.
I love going to the Cox Farms lot because it feels they sell beautiful, great-smelling trees, and they have complimentary hot cider for all. Sadly, we arrived just a tad too late for the cider this year.
Considering that we were not going to be in town on Christmas day, we thought we should find a small tree. We thought a 3-footer would do nicely, but then we saw this 5-foot beauty:
Isn't she beautiful?
We told the worker that this was the one we wanted and in an accent that I didn't quite recognize he said, "This is a Douglas Fir. It is from Ore-GON. It is a very fine tree." And this is another reason I love going to the Cox Farms lot. I'm sure no other lot has a guy that talks like that. He was a genuine tree lover.
We strapped that tree to our car, tipped that sweet tree lover, and rode away.

Once at home, we drank hot cocoa, the only natural thing to do after a Christmas tree lot trip.

And that, my friends, is how we began our amazingly happy Christmas season together. Stay tuned for more.

It was so fun running into you at Cox Farms. We agree, they have the best trees. Ours looked great all season long. I can't wait to read more about your Christmas activities!
