Pray.

Today I read about Emily Jones, and found myself sobbing at my computer, praying for this young mother and her daughter.
She's going to have a baby in June and her husband won't be there.
Not in body anyway.
And I thought about John Jones and how many prayers he offered to Heavenly Father during those last 24 hours of his life, stuck in a cave.
And how those who tried to get him out sang him primary songs.
Now John gets to be closer to Heavenly Father.
Life really isn't fair, but God still lives, and he loves each and every one of His children.
I don't know everything, but I do know that much. And I know that He is comforting Emily and Elizabeth now.

IeLi this story is about Emily Petersen who was in our home ward through elementary school. Steve will surely remember David and Nathan, who were his age. I can't even comprehend the extreme tragedy of it all. So so sad.

Rachel, that's unbelievable. I know Nathan too. And I knew he went to UVA med school so I was sure Nathan would know him. I had no idea there was any relation. That is so tragic.

The worst part to me is that everyone was sure he would be rescued after they partially retrieved him. Then even more of a shocker when he got stuck again. I can't comprehend how I would feel as his wife in that moment.

I'm also very glad he wasn't alone when he died.

I wasn't following the story until around Thanksgiving, and he was already dead. That would have been horrible to have that hope of rescue erased.

What a tender story.

We were following the story also and our hearts broke when we found out they couldn't get him out. And you are right, all we can do is pray for her and her family.
