Sunday

Steve got up with the kids and let me sleep in. I heard Stephen this morning say, "I wa find Mama!" "Mama, whe ah you?" Then he found me and demanded, "kith!" We walked over to my side of the bed and gave me a lovely good morning kiss.

Stephen: Mama, a doing?
Me: I'm sleeping.
Stephen: Thleeping? Why thleeping?
Me: I'm tired.
Stephen: Tired? Oh! Okay! Goodbye, Mama!

Mei Li followed soon after with her good morning kiss and the kids followed Steve downstairs for breakfast while I snoozed a little longer. It was a very happy morning.

Our home teachers came over this morning around 10 AM. John shared a lesson from Elder Oaks' October conference talk. It was a lovely lesson and gave me so much to think about.

After they left, we went on a Sunday morning walk as a family. We have church at 2:30 these days ever since the ward split. One thing that I love about that time is being able to enjoy the daylight hours outside as a family. Today was a beautiful sunny day, in the low 70s. There are still so many leaves on the trees and the sun was shining so brightly. I love sunshine. I need sunshine. I'm not looking forward to winter.

The kids were distracted by every little thing they saw, but we had no destination and no time limit so it was very enjoyable. We saw a neighborhood dog, Shakira, on our walk. Mei Li really likes Shakira, but Stephen is kinda scared of her.

On the way home, Stephen got on all fours and said, "I'm like a dog! Rah!" He didn't sound like much of a dog. Then, still on all fours, said, "I'm like (sha)Kira! Rah!" Lastly he said, "I'm like a cat! Meow, meow!" It was pretty darn adorable. I love my little baby guy. Can he just stay this way forever? I can't bear the thought of him not having those big, fat cheeks or that high, little boy voice with a lisp.

It was a joyful, sunny, happy, beautiful day. I'm so grateful.
