We are officially potty training Mei Li. It wasn't my choice. It was Mei Li's.
Mei Li likes to do other things during her nap time besides nap. On Tuesday, I opened the door and discovered that she had taken off her diaper and put on some panties. I took that as my signal to begin the potty training process.
Mei Li has had two #1 accidents since Tuesday, and has decided to reserve #2 for her pull-ups. I consider myself blessed. It's not the nightmare that I anticipated at all, though we clearly still have some work to do.
Today, Mei Li decided not to nap again. We opened her door and found her without pull-ups. She was trying on her tankini. She had put it on very incorrectly. It was time for us to go so we got Mei Li dressed, but couldn't find her underwear.
Steve: Where is your underwear, Mei Li?
Mei Li: It's on the fan.
Sure enough, she had hung her underwear on her standing fan.
There have been many joyful moments through this process. Every once in a while, I ask Mei Li if she's still dry. She lifts up her dress to show me she's still dry, then I say, "Yay! Mei Li's still dry!" This praise makes her really happy and she then jumps up and down with her arms in the air, a big smile on her face, and squinty eyes.
When baby guy sees this whole production, he lifts up his shirt, points to his belly button and says, "dry!" Oh man, it's funny.
Anyway, that's the update. Pretty big news, huh?

Huge news!! Congrats! Glad it hasn't been too painful. Wish we could get June interested soon.
It's wonderful news. And life without diapers is worth every minute of the process!
Yay! A kid who WANTS to be potty trained?! I only dream of being so lucky! I'm super proud of Stephen too! What a big boy - keeping his belly button dry! Good job, Baby Guy! :)
